Well as I highlighted in the previous post I have had the busiest/stressful week - but it was also my Birthday - 25... not too pleased about my age gradually pulling more to 30 so I went out and got very drunk and had an excellent time. Aeyo. I wish I would have taken some photos of my Birthday outfit as its definately a new favourite.

I have University work brimming out of every possible outlet right now - lovely (I'm hoping it will be doable in another city as I have a little trip to Switzerland this week to see Al)

The title has absolutely no relevance apart from the fact that I was just listening to a bit of mid morning Bowie. This outfit was a few days ago (pre tonsillitis dressing, post tonsillitis pretty much just involves a onesie) - I love versatile clothes as it makes me feel a lot better about spending money on clothes 'well I will wear it all the time as a dress, skirt, a top, I could even use it as a tent to hide in... and voila money well spent'

The scarf is my new favourite accessory, purely for the fact that its pretty and I can wrap it around my head 3 times - Bonus.

So yes I have managed to get tonsillitis again so I am back on antibiotics and banned from boozing, the germs seem to sense when I have a good party to go to and then hit to ruin my fun :( some serious evil at work here. I have pretty much spent the past few days in bed, attempting some Uni work from underneath my duvet (not an easy feat) and watching far too much House, he is such a grumpy genius - he is the best.

It was a white tights + white socks kind of day.

This was yesterdays outfit to head into Uni for a tutorial, gossip, coffee and then onto my French class. I must admit I though I would be better at French by now but we are doing such basic things that it just aint happening - this will be the year when I can at least hold a conversation (albeit a very simple one) with an actual French speaking person. Determination.

My tutorial was just what I needed I think, gave me a lot to mull over. I decided today was a white tights and socks kind of day. I hate having to just wear jeans and big jumpers when its cold, so the ace tights helped to revive my winter wardrobe. Boom. I was surprised with this gigantor scarf gift as I was leaving the house, so naturally I had to wear it instantly - warmest thing :) (the last photo is an instagram (@ashleyfauguel) shot of myself to kind of show the finished outfit article)

I am reading two books at the moment, one for Uni and one for myself although I am really enjoying them both so I suppose they would both be for pleasure - not sure why I am attempting to define it ok. I just am. Ha My lovely friend Cath over at I heart penny has a very cool video by Ken Richardson if you would like to take a look :) he is a very inspirational man. Fact.

I think as I am somehow closing in on a 100 readers :) :) I may do my first big giveaway when I hit that point, what do you think?

In other news there are plans in the mix for drinks and another sightseeing/sketching day this week wahey! I think I may disable my illustration blog for a little while and just keep on with this lovely one just to take the added pressure off myself, I want to organise myself and my work before I post anymore on the t'internet - good idea? Be illustrationally (not a word but sounds fun)invisible for a while? Hum.

What a nice day for the V&A

I have realised that I am in London for a year (at the least) and I want to take advantage of that fact whilst I can! So yesterday I went into Uni (for what turned out to be a meeting that is actually in three weeks time - fool) to nip to the libary and meet some friends. We went to the V&A to have a wander around and do some observational drawing, I was quite amazed at how many people were doing the same thing so I didn't feel like a complete twirp (dragging out the old school expressions) sketching heads and phallic sculptures. After a stop off at Pret we went to the opening of the new Nobrow section of the Hayward Gallery, Free drinks... what! It turned out to be extremely cool - I could spend almost everything in my bank account stocking up on ace books and comics (what I actually came out with was a beautiful postcard, which is just about all my account would allow, boo) Throughout the night they had some live drawing going down, which is really interesting to watch and actually see the drawing come together. Much coffee was consumed and there was banter a plenty - lovely old day. YES.

As I have been saying I am completely obsessed with the new Black Keys album. Mainly for the amazing music. Obviously, But I also for the cover - great stuff! I managed to get a whiff of the new Wes Anderson trailer today - it is obviously going to be amazing and I cannot wait - Its here if you haven't already feasted your eyes upon it!

Today I have knuckled down to some hardcore researching and sketching for my project, lots to do...

Full Primark outfit. Boom. To be fair I don't usually like wearing all one brand but it's definately turning out to be one of my most thrifty outfits. My bumbag was able to get in on the action - it may have drew a few strange glances BUT I think its ace. It was my first 'real' day back in Uni today for a (very cool, it turns out) lecture, lunch and a bit of banter. On my way home I managed to scope out a white shirt for £1 and a vintage 'Learn French' book from the 70's for £1.50 (it turns out that finding a vintage book on it somehow makes the whole learning experience seem more appealing...)

I still (as always) have an absolute mound of work to get through so I am generally going to have to be miss unsocial to claw my way through some of it, but I have a nice little trip to the V&A tomorrow to do some observational drawings (I will be the person looking slightly embarassed if people look at my sketchbook...) and then on to the Nobrow opening :) - they are both art related, which means I am not cheating. :)

Hope everyone is getting back into the monotonous swing of things after Christmas and are not drifting into a January depression... on a brighter note I cannot stop listening to the new Black Keys album - ACE!

I love photography and used it a lot on my BA but I have always just played around and discovered things myself so when I saw that there was a night photography course discounted on Groupon I jumped at the chance to get a few professional tips on how to use my camera specifically at night! It was really fun and our guy knew everything (ok maybe an over exaggeration but he was good) I managed to get a few great shots – very abstract but there are so many lovely lights at night that its hard not to take advantage of them! I was amazed at how many people approach you when you a taking a picture – the public are apparently on paparazzi alert pretty much constantly…

This was my Christmas Day outfit – on this day in particular you need to wear something fancy but comfortable (with plenty of stretch… for obvious reasons) so I gave my grey marl Topshop dress an airing, I don’t know what it is with this dress but it nevers looks as nice on photographs humph why is beyond me. These shoes were one of my pressies off Al so despite staying in the house almost all day it seemed appropriate to prance around quite a few feet higher!

These are a few of my Christmas pressies I managed to photograph – an IPAD J YES off Al also, a new camera lens, lots of new books and alcohol! I was so spoilt this year, I received so many lovely things! Including underwear, dvds, cds, ink sets, Chloe perfume, jewellery, pug stuff, makeup, money and lots of clothes! I hope everyone had an excellent Christmas day!

Blue Velvet from Red Velvet

This outfit is from Christmas Eve but due to having no internet at home in Manchester it has just been sat patiently waiting on my computer until now just waiting to be released. I love this dress – I bought it in the Thanksgiving sales for half price J from Red Velvet. The dress is perfect – I feel like a slightly gothic seventies lady who should be running barefoot through the forest in it, which is why I though an outside setting was in order!

Due to it being Christmas eve we though cracking open a bottle of champers was the correct thing to do - we ate lots, drank lots, talked a lot and woke up with a slight drunken haze surrounding us! Great night and a great start to the Christmas festivities!

2012. Already?

I have decided that this year I am not going to make actual resolutions – instead I am going to set goals for myself to achieve, things to work towards in the coming year in a hope to organise my life.

- Complete my Masters Degree

- Enter as many illustration competitions as is humanly possible

- Blog more – on this blog and its illustration twin

- Buy less clothes – I realise this may not be entirely possible but I am hoping to tailor what I already have to make it work – DIY

- Eat more healthily and exercise in an attempt to boost my shot immune system and lose that little bit of padding for the coming summer months

- Look after myself

- Work harder – try to be less ‘last minute’ especially with ridiculously important projects

- Visit Edinburgh

- Be able to have a conversation in French

- Go away somewhere warm and relaxing with Allan

- Have an illustration published

- Be less nervous about photographing my outfits – I am no model but I need to stop being so shy with it!

- Balance my social/work life better – see my friends more.

- Make my first item of clothing

- Attempt to keep a lovely flow of things on Etsy

- Get through my mighty book list

- Part time job to keep me going

DIY Pressies

I have been having an increasingly crafty Christmas - going back to a student status after being in a full time job definately takes a hit on the ol'bank balance, I have found a fun way around it, homemade cards, paper, tags and a few pressies! So if you are still looking for some pressies and fancy giving it a go...

You will need;

- embroidery cotton

- scissors

- a hard object (to lend a hand)

- clasps and rings

- beads

- time to faff

1. Gather materials and choose the colours you want your necklace to be.

2. Separate a few threads. I choose 1 thread from each colour to keep the necklace delicate looking.

3. Plait all the strings together, using your hard object to keep everything in place. (not gonna lie, this takes a while...)

4. Place on the bead of your choice, and then attach the clasp and the ring to each end of the necklace.

5. I then made a cardboard package to bring it all together :)

ENJOY!ENJOY! (I am hoping the recipient doesn't happen to read this...) CHRISTMAS IS ALMOST HERE!!!

Bow time (actual bows not cider :(...)

No waste here OH NO!

What you will need;

- discarded sleeve

- scissors

- safety pin/elastic

- tacky glue

1. Cut the sleeve open and cut out a square and a smaller rectangle of the piping.

2. Pull the material together in the middle to create a bow shape and glue.

3. Wrap the extra bit of piping around the middle and glue.

4. Add either a safety pin or some elastic depending on how you would like to wear the creation :)

DIY Tshirt time

So for this badboy you will need;

- bleach

- tshirt

- scissors

- safety pins

- old paintbrush

- rubber gloves

- plastic bags

1. Cover the place you are working in plastic bags and pop a bag inside the tshirt to stop the bleach running straight through to the back (unless obviously you would like that effect)

2. Water down the bleach, 1 part bleach mixed with 2 parts water. Put on your gloves and apply the bleach in a design of your choice.

3. Go over as many times as needed to get the colour you like, leave for 45 minutes then put it in the washing machine (on its own..) and then leave to dry.

4. Cut off the sleeves and the piping around the collar, then cut the sleeve open at the top.

5. Attach the top of the tshirt back together with safety pins.

***wear whilst listening to heavy metal, head banging and drinking white lightening***

I will be posting up a way to use the discarded sleeves tomorrow... If anyone does try this let me know :) and outfit post to follow...

Christmas Peckham Style

Leopard print or tie dye? OR both? Why not eh? Yesterday was the final lecture before Christmas (which means I should be able to just do Christmassy things now right? Wrong - still haves tons of work booooo) with none other than Audrey Niffenegger - if I could have mustered up the courage I would have taken my book in for her to sign! She was brilliant - her visual work involves a lot of skeletons and levitation. Yes. After the lecture a couple of us went back to my Friends house to have a Christmas gathering Peckham style :) Such a fun night involving brie, speciality cider (despite my bank balance groaning I thought I Christmas treat was in order) mulled cider, spoons, 'Boris Johnson' masks, handmade Christmas decorations by the hostess with the mostess, cat weight lifting and general havoc! I obviously feel great this morning but the hangover is well deserved and made worthy.

I have a day of galleries and lunch (and possibly more cider...) tomorrow yay! How is everyone else celebrating the season? 10 days till Christmas YAY

I have had a rather Christmassy/crafty few days - making wrapping paper, Christmas cards, gift tags and snowflakes. To be fair, this year I probably should have bought my cards and got on with my actually rather scary 'to-do' list from Uni - but where is the fun in that? Nowhere. I do need to be the most busy and productive person this week so Christmas will just be about eating, drinking and having fun WOO, wish me luck! ACE night - I went to a club night in Barbican at 'Native Tongue'. I have discovered that tube trips are definately more fun when pissed and they come with an added sense of adventure. Who Knew? Not me, but it was awesome. Also I finally got to wear my velvet hot pants - aeyo. Feeling absolutely PANTS now, which is inconvenient as I have a full proposal to write for Monday... Screen Printing + Etsy Gift Ideas :)

Well it was my Grandmas 70th on Saturday so we made a very fleeting visit to Manchester to celebrate in style (by style I mean copious amounts of alcohol, fillet steak and party poppers. Of course.) She had a lovely time and she was suprised, which meant we did our non giveaway/subtle faces well. After lots of laughs I skirted into town so venture into my childhood (yes I'm old enough to refer to my childhood like that now) haunt '5th Avenue' - it never fails to make me dance like a maniac and drink more Vodka Redbull than is humanly possible. Great old night followed by a hungover/shabby day - was it worth it? YES.

V&A - Late Night.

I had a rather nice yet very random day on Friday - I went into University in the morning and was half thrown out so slightly lost I wandered into Covent Garden to wander around until 6 when I was meeting my friends for some late night V&A action. I accidently stumbled into the cinema to see 'My Week With Marilyn' - I actually really like going to the cinema on my own and the film was ace! It made me feel weirdly proud that I wasn't the skinniest woman! I could have watched the film again pretty much straight away - but then again I am very strange like that. Has anyone else seen this wonder to the eyes as of yet? If so - thoughts?

ANYWAY the V&A was really cool - you could screenprint, make your own zine or get a hand drawn tattoo off the lovely Nick White (mine was a whale - with a tattoo of a whale, with a tattoo of a whale. Obviously)I also went to the Simon Garfield talk - 'Just my Type' talk, which was really interesting for type - I'm not usually a fan... my ears close up involuntarily but just like my taste buds I am becoming more and more partial to it. There was cider involved as the after party - all round a great night.

The Drums

Had a bit of a whirlwind trip to Zurich to see Al and 'The Drums' - it was ACE, the venue was so small and intimate that I could spit on the lead singer - not that I wanted too of course that would not only be highly disrespectful but grose... but you get the smallness, hopefully. It was a big weekend of firsts - I tried my first real German grub (schlong anyone?), my first dabble into coffee + amaretto and also my first macaroon - immense.

The weekend was amazing, no flight troubles - just red wine and happiness but now I am back to stacks (yes plural, numerous amounts) of work. We just put up the 20 faces (sort of) exhibit in Uni - but more on that later (later meaning next post) We had afew cheeky drinks to celebrate yesterday followed by a 14 hour sleep - nice. I need to knuckle down over the next few days so I am able to go to the V&A amazingness on Friday! Wish me luck.

Skippin' Town

Yes thats right - I'm 'Skippin' Town' for the weekend to visit Al, Switzerland and 'The Drums' - Big woop! This coat from Topshop has to be one of my all times best buys - I do love it with the big furry stole attached (so right for the Swiss weather) but I also quite like that I can remove the fur and get a boxy boyfriend coat. I have been wearing pretty much this outfit/similar all week, been feeling in need of warmth and comfort. I think the bowler hat has been surgically attached to my head, also I now need glasses..... 'oh so thats how thats supposed to look?'... nice.

I have had these pictures pretty much since Monday but I have been so busy in Uni - we have been given a week long project to go alongside our big self directed one, so I have spent the week manically drawing faces/attending lectures/writing proposals and drinking far too much coffee. I managed to finish my 20 faces about 5 minutes ago YAY but I have a big A1 piece to start/finish when I get back Sunday. Great stuff.

I refrained from heading into Central London to visit the new Versace for H&M as I knew I would spend too much money (which I defnately dont have - hello credit card) in excitement of having like 5 minutes in 'the section' and also it would take far toomuch work time away so I sat mindlessy at the computer clicking refresh... I could the few small bits I really wanted and also a bigger bit for Christmas :) so I'm a happy chappy - cant wait for them to arrive!

Well I have had an awesomely fantastic few days! Al was home and we did a bit of a whirlwind tour of the North - Leeds, Liverpool and of course Manchester. We went to see Bon Iver play in Leeds and they were incredible - you can always tell and amazing singer/band if when they sing live it sounds better than the CD, his voice was phenomenal! I may have teared slightly...

We also had many meals including steak, 'Larked' around with masks on in Spar after a drunken meal and a visit to a Tiki bar, ate at the Albert Dock, had laughing fits and had a rather drunken family gathering. A truly amazing weekend but obviously I haven't got through as much University work as I would have liked but this week is THE WEEK OF WORK oohhh. I arrived back into London and had a sudden realisation that my life would be slightly worse if I didn't have monster munch in my life - so I obviously went to hunt the bad boys down, and they were beastly. I was planning a very early night tucked up in bed with 'Miracle on 34th street' which I did - but then proceeded to stay awake making my Etsy shop for my Christmas cards, so have a gander HERE :)

Ah the time of Christmas Starbucks and red cups is finally upon us - its officially 45 days until Christmas (as you may be able to tell - I'm incredibly excited) it is my favourite time of the year. I can not wait to start on my Christmas cards although I am going to put a ban on doing them until I have finished the work for University that I need to, this seems fair and also an incentive to be more productive. I love Winter and the opportunity to wear all my comfiest jumpers, this is my favourite vintage jumper by far - I have never seen a jumper with so much sparkle and fluffiness as this little gem. I have so many hats now but this bowler hat may just be the best.

I have an awesome week ahead (I admit not a massively work related week, which means next week I will be tied to my desk.. but its completely worth it) I am heading back to Manchester for a long weekend to see Bon Iver, do lots of sawing, drink lots of alcohol and see Allan :)So excitedddddd I will report back soon... have a good weekend!

I walk in from a long but awesomely good day to find this little gem waiting for me - it is the nicest feeling to receive a letter especially one this pretty and filled with goodies! It was such a great idea of Marlous - have a look at her blog 'last days of spring' to have as look at the rest of the project :)

I have had such a good day - we had a mono printing workshop in Uni, its exciting to be properly introduced to something new and exciting that really seemed to agree withe me, I will be definately using it in my work (posted a few pictures of my days escapades with ink and rollers on my illustration site, so have a little browse if the mood takes you)I also have my idea for my project proposal finally cemented so wahey!

I was also a little shocked/excited at the reaction to my last post - cheers guys :)

Remember, Remember the fifth of November. I just had to put that phrase somewhere - its like Bonfire Night law. We had a Bonfirework party (new catchphrase - came up with it all by myself. Smart) with lots of fireworks, hotdogs, screaminbg children and red wine. It was a pretty ace excuse to blow lots of things up :)

This post is massively picture heavy but I took so many pictures last night that I just couldn't resist... now I have a slight hangover (drank lots of water before bed. Smart again) and a gigantor pile of work - so I will settle into Potter and project formation. Work ahoy chaps.

This is a little present I put together for my Dads birthday - he is a red wine fiend, but I hate JUST buying wine so I thought I would add my own spin. I drew him and designed a personal label for him. Getting the old wine label off proved slightly more difficult and involved giving the lovely bottle of wine a bath and scrub :) something, suprisingly I don't do on a regular basis. I am currently in the process of setting up a blog specifically for my illustrations (seens as I am doing an MA Degree in Illustration - it seems necessary... this blog did start off as illustration and then the fashion side of my head took over slightly so now I am in need of two - not that you needed to know most of that or are particularly bothered but I am typing aloud)

Well I am babysitting tonight and I'm feeling 'Independance Day' and chocolate fingers are the way to go.

I finally got my dress from Monki to be fair I shouldn't have purchased it in the first place as I really do not have the money to splash out (but I think you will agree the dress is worth the splash AND it was in the sale so I couldn't not) but fate has stepped in to rectify the situation - the dress is massively too big and looks pretty awful so I have sent it back and it will be like I never spent the money in the first place - the World has been shuffled back into its rightful destiny...

ok that may be going a little too deep but I have just experienced the 'Source Code' for the first time and I am now in an epic mood.

I am loving the charity shops in Surbiton - although it does always bug me when they are ridiculously expensive THEY ARE CHARITY SHOPS. I found this little gem of a blazer in a charity shop for £2.50 - it was technically dry clean only - but I refuse to pay £2.50 for a blazer then get it dry cleaned for £15! I attempted the ol'hand wash - it's clean but still smells a bit... charity shoppy (I am definately not a seasoned cleaning wizard so I'm impressed it didn't instantly fall to pieces in my hands..) I also found a faux fur stole in the same charity shop for £1.50 - so a pretty good sweep. I am suffering from post paycheck depression - I know it's going to be a long while before I have another paycheck so I really need to curb my spending... a lot easier than it sounds ha.

I am having a (mostly) drink free week to make a massive head start (or catch up) on my University work - so it's University everyday and staying until I have done SOMETHING productive. Wish me luck.

Happy Halloween! Ooooo! Like most people I celebrated Halloween on Saturday with the sole idea of being able to get very drunk on a non school night :) To be fair I shambled together what was supposed to be a dead hippie kind of get up (later to be informed I looked like I was dressed for the Mexican festival 'Day of the Dead' so I promptly took that on the chin and renamed my outfit - smart)I made the rookie mistake of purchasing pound shop face paint, which were complete crap and ended up painting my face with guache - could have been terrible but it worked. Jackpot.

All around it was a pretty great night - ending with a very late night flit to KFC, I really need to stop eating so much crap and begin top tailor a healthy diet - I am almost 25... but it was so, so good. Spent Sunday feeling pretty shabby and attempting to do some University work but ended up watching Downton Abbey and making lots of lists (just to try and convince myself I'm doing something. Obviously)

I went to a gallery opening on Thursday at 'The Book Club' and had my first drunken experience on Brick Lane, which was spent mostly sat on stoops with a can - all part of the experience.

I need to shamble myself together a Halloween outfit together for tonight - I'm thinking a dead hippy.. bit of a sell out as all I need is a dress, flower crown and a freaky skull face - add to that a drunken grimace and I'm ready to roll.

I am currently suffering massively with a cold - but I made it into University for my tutorial (dedicated student right there) before slinking right back into bed for a Heroes marathon. This may be the last outfit type post for a few days until I look less gross (or possibly more gross on Halloween)

This is the outfit I wore for my friends birthday - I made the long schlep from London to Leeds for some drunken fun (not so drunken in the end due to this goddamn cold but still fun) I found this hair clip/hat type thing in Primark - It didn't have a price so when I took it to the till they put it through for 50p. Bargain. If I had my own way I would just wear head to toe faux fur all Winter if I didn't think I would look a bit too Ab Fab... especially paired with leopard skin - I just cant seem to help myself :)

I had a bit of Bombay Bicycle Club action last night in Brixton- sheer awesomeness. There was crazy dancing (jumping is probably more the description of what I was doing) and cider to be had! We went for a very classy tea in 'Weatherspoons' beforehand - you just cant beat a beer and a burger for a fiver. Fact.

You know winter has arrived when you consider wearing a jumper to a most probably sweaty gig. I picked up these leather shorts for around $20 in Urban Outfitters New York - absolute steal! Im going to have to get some thermal underwear for my next trip to Switzerland to see Allan...

Anyway University is going well up to now - met some ace people to make the whole big London transition go along very smoothly. Im in a bit of a dilemma whether or not to work part time whilst studying (something i've always done but as this course is just a year - I want to get the most out of it as possible..) I will obviously have to curb the whole clothes buying - I can feel a few DIY projects coming on...

I am still trying to get the hang of false eyelashes - it still feels like a complete novelty. We had 'Welcome Meeting' drinks at University to meet the rest of the tutors and see the Art Gallery - free drinks, wahey. It was pretty cool - I had the chance to meet a lot of people of my course and we all carried onto a local pub for booze and banter! I then decided to meet some other friends across the other side of London - so endured a rather hilarious drunken train ride.. safe to say I'm not feeling the freshest of people today. I did man up and drag myself out of bed for a spot of University/charity shop shopping (ok I bought one sketchpad, but I found the most perfect tweed blazer and a furry bag - the coat smells seriously dodgy though so that may have to go down as a working progress)

Anyway I have definately taken part in my share of rambling for the time being so I'm going to curl up with jack Bauer. Nighty night.

I really do need to stop taking so many pictures of what I eat - For one, the looks I get make me feel a little mental! and two - I kind of look like a porker... so here is a Swiss post thats not about food. Dedication. I love Switzerland (I'm sure that fact is being made quite apparent) I love that even when its rainy and moody its still so pretty and photogenic. I had the chance to visit a place called lausanne this time, which was ace - we wandered up and down the hills (although I was wearing my heeled boots at the time so when I say wandering a mean staggering artfully), went shopping and saw 'Crazy, Stupid, Love' with French and German subtitles - awesome and shockingly it was a great film. Bonus.

I want to live in Switzerland - although if I did I could pretty much guarantee I would at least double in size. The food is immense - mouthwatering steak, amazing bread, sausages, cheese and obviously ridiculously good chocolate. Oui Vrai! It was my first fondue dipping experience - so much fun but I couldn't move afterwards - the pre dinner wine was maybe not the best idea especially when you then continue to pump yourself with melted cheese and bread...

MY NEW BIBLE

Hello LANDAN, well I'm here and I am now officially an MA Illustration and 'Beginners French' student, which means its going to be a mightily busy year. The above Tube Map will now be considered my Bible - on my way to enrol today I think I managed to get on at least 3 trains that were going the complete opposite direction to what I wanted... until I found this little gem.

I start my course properly next Tuesday so I'm off to Switzerland :)...... If I can make my way to Gatwick that is (wish me luck)

Jane Eyre

Creepy, haunting and mesmerizing.

I have always fallen in love with photographs and films that capture that early morning light and Jane Eyre seemed to manage it in every shot. The light, the mist and the general colouring of the film was just dreamlike and beautiful. I have yet to read the book, which isn't like me at all but if the film was that good I have high hopes for the novel. Mia Wasikowska has a very ethereal look about her, which made her perfect to fit the character and the mood of the film. Fassbender made a great Rochester - he had a strong presence yet still came across as likeable. Judi Dench, awesome - enough said.

I woke up a little hungover obsessing about the clothes and hairstyles throughout the film so attempted to have a little fun and recreate... massively geeky but improved my fragile state. Even so I can feel an illustration coming on...

I used to love The Subways but hadn't listened to them for years so I was a little apprehensive to what I would find - they were brill live, really good vocals and whipped us fans (don't look at me like that, I'm a reborn Subways lover) into a frenzy. In all honesty I don't LOVE there new stuff but they are a fun band who make me feel like dancing a jig. The warm up band however 'The Computers' were less of a surprise - to be fair their music was pretty good but their lead singer was a complete moron. 'our Rock and Roll will save your soul'... I just don't think so somehow.

We had an aces night, drank far too much, danced (sweat) and discovered that Tuborg is the worst tasting beer, quite possibly in the whole entire world.

In other new I finally managed to get my hands on a pair of the elusive Topshop Allegras and I'm completely in love.

'To keep or not to keep' was the question with these shoes, I bought them to go with a dress for a wedding - I didn't wear the dress so I didn't end up wearing the shoes. They are a Primark special - blue velvet and a complete steal at £18 so I think they may become a more permanent part of my selection!

A Quiet Few Days...

Well I have been rather unproductive on my blog and the internet in general the last few days... I have been struck down with Tonsilitis. Again. (anyone else just completely not shocked at this news? Happens often enough) As much as I hate the thought of an operation its getting to the point when I really would like them whipped out - not that easy though. So I have spent the last few days either in work doped up on paracetamol and penicillin or laid like a vegetable.

In brighter news I have the perfect winter coat (not that I could afford but...) I have an awesome week planned next week, I finish work in exactly one week tomorrow, the next step of my education is almost about to start, I have booked tickets to Switzerland to take in some amazing steak action and I managed to bag tickets to London for 9 quid - steal!

I am now going to continue this weeks cycle, lie like a carrot and watch 'Lars and the Real Girl'

Coolest Man.

I know what your thinking... a little dark for a Wedding? Maybe. I love Weddings but I never, ever know what to wear, or I suppose what is appropriate to wear - but outfit woes aside, we had an amazing time... peach bellini's and far too much wine - safe to say I felt less than great yesterday! The Wedding had a very personal and hadmade feel to it, which I found to be perfect. All of the flowers at the Wedding were home grown by the Bride and we all received a little packet of seeds an attempt to spread the green fingered feeling! Also it was warm SHOCK! So we revelled in the last days of our already meagre summer!

I managed to seriously sharpen up my haggling skills and snapped up this little leather number in Gran Canaria (was 75 Euros I snagged it for 15..smug) I have been on the hunt for a bowler hat for what seems like an actual age.. I did want a vintage bowler, not sure why but I caved when I set eyes on this H&M amazeballs bowler! The no make up shots make me look slightly dead... but it was needed to show off the hat to its full potential!

Anyway I completely forgot that the 'Northern Quarter Street Party' was happening this weekend like a complete moran so instead of enjoying an ice cold beer and dancing I am watching 'The Breakfast Club' Great alternative but still...

Fantastic by name, fantastic by nature

Fantastic Mr Fox is one of those films where I geekily followed its progress until it hit the pictures and the somehow stupidly didnt go and see it - completely mental on my behalf - poor form. I still proceeded to avoid it until walking through HMV in buying mode and saw it for £3 - absolute steal so I have finally watched it in all its Roald Dahl, Wes Anderson, Murray deliciousness... Was I impressed? Not so sure it could ever be as good as my head built it up to be but a pretty stellar attempt I would say. Bill Murray can do no wrong in my eyes (I will even forgive him Garfield - what was he thinking?) I am a massive fan of animation (stop motion animation in particular I hold close to my heart - it just seems so... sincere) and this film was just a feast for the ol'eyeballs. I loved Roald Dahls 'Fantastic Mr Fox' and although there is not necessarily his full story throughout the film Dahl provided enough awesomeness to make the film great regardless.

This awesome editorial in this months Marie Claire pretty much sums up how I would like to dress most of the time - I love winter and I love winter clothes! I think I am part of a strange minority of people who prefer the cold weather to the warm - don't get me wrong I like warm weather when it involves summer holidays, days spent with a Cider in a Beer Garden or at a BBQ, but i'm always a little relieved when my comfortable weather arrives again to greet me. So to perfect this look I need to achieve a decent (small) beehive and a fluid cat eye - preparation begins now! (although I am massively impatient so if the beehive fails that maybe all the chance its getting!)

Well.... what can I say, why do I want to blog for Look Magazine?

Rather simple actually I am a little bit of a Fashion Freak, I'm obsessed with it - obsessed with clothes (whether or not this is a good or a bad thing is still being decided)

OK slight 'kiss-ass time' I love Look Magazine - no way around it, I always sit and read features about Fashion Week and just think 'I could do that! I would love to be able to do that!' I would endeavor to bring myself and hopefully something a little bit different to the Fashion Blogisphere! When I first started my blog I wanted it to mainly be a place to show my illustrations to the world (honesty time - It was also a requirement for University) but since that point I have fell in love, and my complete love of fashion has just completely taken over - but with clothes on the brain this shouldn't have come as a shock!

Anyway less rambling and more stating reasons why I should be Looks blogger extraordinaire;

1. Im cool..... ha ok so not true but couldn't resist - although I have a tremendously deep love for fashion I do still get a little camera-shy having myself in front of the camera to take the standard 'Outfit Pose' not a 'cool person' trait at all :)

2. As an illustrator I would love to combine fashion with my lovely/possibly freaky illustrations to capture the amazing clothes and the awesome 'Look Magazine' at their most fantastic! I am beginning to get to a point where my illustrations and Fashion are in the 'molding pot' together simmering harmoniously... cheesiest woman Ha!

3.I like to think I am a bit of a dab hand with the ol'camera so will catch all the action (full bodies - no just feet and half heads) definately a good blogger trait!

So to sum up this random selection of words, I love fashion, I love Look, I love being creative and I love blogging - what could I possibly want more than to blog for Look? Nothing I can think of I can tell you :)

With all the absolute ridiculous Chaos kicking off in Manchester, I decided to compile a list of my favourite films of the month :) So here we go;

'5oo Days of Summer' - This is one of my all time favourite films, mainly due to the ace clothes and the even more amazing soundtrack. I'm a bit of a sucker for love stories but I love that this story actually ends somewhat realistically!

'Adventureland' - SUPERB doesn't even begin to cover this film, the one downside being you may now rebel everytime you hear the song 'Amadeus'

'The Royal Tenebaums' - This film provides endless amounts on illustrative inspiration, so stylised and brilliant - standard Anderson

'Lars and the Real Girl' - A story line that really shouldn't work (a man who falls for a blow up doll) but does, it's strangely sweet. If I was a boy I would dress like Lars at all times - no exceptions

'The Virgin suicides' - just beautiful...

'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows 1' - Of course this has been on my favourite list for the last few months out of sheer anticipation for the finale!

'Bunny and the Bull' - ridiculously random, the animation running throughout the film just makes it that much cooler and there is a bear :)

'Sideways' - 'I'm not drinking fucking MERLOT' - so amazing that on our road trip down the Golden Coast we went a couple of hours off route just to witness 'The Hitching Post'

'Mallrats' - Another all time favourite with far too many quotes to reel off! Just watch if you haven't already... ok one quote 'Snoochie boochies'

'Knocked Up' - Hilarious!

OOH look what came in the post today, My brand spanking new Tripod, extremely excited to use it - rather sad I know :)I found it rather cheap on Play so assumed it may be pretty pants but I'm impressed! My new little addition to my now growing Brogue collection also arrived this week - I think I'm ready for winter now, probably good thing with the English climate!

I have just received good news about my Loan for University so I have put myself on a 'clothes buying ban' with a few exceptions; 1. I can buy something if its truly a one-off and not having the item would make my life considerably worse. 2. Its from a Charity shop (cant deprive the Charity's the funds) OR 3. Its something to go with my outfit for the Wedding I'm attending. So a few exceptions but I think we all need a little le-way - less room for failure :)

Also I have a Tumblr now - I feel a new obsession coming on!

I am going to start by saying I am pretty much obsessed with The Drums :)There new song makes me want to 'bop around' not sure how happy I am about using that phrase but so completely true. I'm feeling slightly fragile today after a pretty ace night, which involved Pizza Express - DOUGH BALLS, lots of white wine, singing and gossip. I have spent this morning sorting out my blogs layout - big pictures woop! I am currently trying to make my blog the way I want it to be, it's been a little mixed up lately, I want my blog to be a platform and a place to show my Illustrations aswell as my fashion and inspirations... Also attempting an actual website eek...

I had a rather awesome weekend (My lovely Boyfriend came home), It was one of those weekends you enjoy so much you rarely have time to take pictures... I did manage to get a cheeky photo of my outfit and a few random Instagram beauties (I love you I Phone Apps) I spent the weekend eating (far, far too much) drinking, visiting Saddleworth, shopping, watching Potter for a second time in IMAX! and witnessing a hilarious run-ins on the train 'dickface'

Well the title of this post is completely ridiculous but I just couldn't help myself :)Need a little pun every now and again! I love being able to wear what I like to work, it makes me feel so much more... me. Currently watching 'The Runaways' - such an awesome film, I had my first Runaways experience in Sydney and was literally replaying Cherry Bomb in my head over and over... I really don't want my Lovefilm trial to end!

I absolutely love Emma Stones stylee - she has embraced the pasty skin that she was born into - I managed to travel the world and still come back palest woman, so I figure that its fate 'English Rose' ha! My favourite outfit has to be the pale green/pink lip combo - I have discovered that pink lipstick improves any outfit! I do like the 40's waves she's rocking aswell, i'm currently trying to smash that hairdo but its so hard!

Anyway I have an extremely awesome long weekend ahead :) Enjoy!
